Stick It to Your Chops is an exhaustive sourcebook containing challenging, effective, and enjoyable exercises for advancing technical skills on the snare drum. The book is divided into three sections: Warm-Ups, Expanding Accents and Rhythms with Rudiments, and Combinations.
Pre-knowledge of snare drum rudiments like the double-stroke roll, the single paradiddle, the flam tap, and the flam accent would be advantageous in approaching this book. The "Combinations" section contains every right-left sticking pattern engendered by groupings of three to eight notes; if the book's rhythm charts were applied to these patterns, the equivalent of over 5,800 pages of exercises would be generated.
The book's patterns and rudiments focus on developing consistency and evenness of strokes, dynamic control, and dexterity. All exercises in this book are written in standard percussion notation with both right-hand and left-hand leads. Online audio examples are provided for select exercises from each section.

Stick Twisters: A Dirty Dozen 'n One Advanced Solos for Snare Drum
"This collection of 13 solos will challenge an advanced snare drummer's technique, musicality, and reading abilities. The most prominent feature of the material in these solos is the use of non-linear and imbedded rhythmic groupings. While these elements are similar to those found in solos by Stuart Saunders Smith and Alexander Lepak, Kirby Jacobsen creates a unique language by combining these complex rhythms with quasi-rudimental writing. This
usually occurs through the use of compound flam, drag, and roll rudiments. With very few sticking indications and no indications as to roll interpretation, much is left up to the performer in determining the identity of each piece.
The collection also includes a CD of the composer performing each solo. This would be especially helpful to performers who are not familiar with complex rhythms. Each solo is performed with an exacting level of accuracy. Jacobsen's sound is characteristically legato and relaxed throughout, with noticeable attention given to dynamic contrasts."
